Sundays with Laure Leger (and Charles)

French born Chicago resident and La Kaiser addict Laure Leger is the Brand Manager at St Pierre bakery. They make "...that soft and sweet brioche that smells amazing in the orange packaging, once you’ve tried it you’re hooked!"

Laure not only has the most beautiful accent but has fabulous style, energy and creativity (currently taking classes at the Art Institute Chicago). Her La Kaiser Collection currently includes The Opal Open Ring, the White Topaz Snowflake Ring and the Opal & Topaz Shooting Star Necklace and she's not done yet!

Laure was born in France at a very young age got to travel a lot, mainly visiting her  dad who was living in Argentina. After seeing a lot of South America and learning Spanish she then gained interest in the US when her dad moved to Philadelphia.

Studying Marketing and Communications in France gave her the opportunity study and work all over the world: Barcelona, Bristol, UK, and NYC. She finally settled in Chicago with her Bulldog Charles in 2017!

Q. What's your favorite Sunday brunch spot?

A. Because I am gluten intolerant it has always been hard to find a place where I can have everything I want for brunch but Chicago has an amazing restaurant that offers a 100% gluten free menu, Wheat End’s Café in Lincoln Park. It’s where I take all my friends and family without telling them the food is gluten free and they love it as much as I do! The food is truly delicious!

Q. Give us your best Self-Care Sunday tip.

A. My best Sunday Self-Care tip is do what you want and what feels good! I personally start the day with a quick 10 minute meditation or some relaxing music. It’s unbelievable the power that meditation has on the mind and body! I drink lots of tea or water (especially if I’ve been out late the night before) throughout the day, go take my favorite ballet class at the Joffrey Ballet School downtown (to me it’s self care as it’s a class I take only one time per week and it helps stretch my muscles and release tensions in the body). Once I get home I take a warm bath with a few drops of lavender essential oil and tea tree essential oil. It help to soothe muscles and prevents soreness. Depending on how my skin looks, I will either do a light facial peeling using the “T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial” by Drunk Elephant or hydrate my skin intensively with the “Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask” by Glow Recipe.

Q. What is in your online shopping cart right now?

On the La Kaiser website: the Rose Gold Emerald and Diamond Mystérieux Ring, the Opal Angels Arc Ring, the Gold Black Diamond Trio Ring and the Gold Diamond Pavilion Studs.

A. In general: plants, plants, plants and more plants. I love plants especially in a small apartment like mine. I get them grown and potted from Bloomscape, I love that they are grown in Detroit and so not too far from Chicago and also love getting kitchen herbs to grow myself from Modern Sprouts, it’s so much fun to grow you own herbs and use them in dishes. Did I mention Modern Sprouts is from Chicago as well? My favorite Chicago based company after La Kaiser!

Q. Anything you're binge watching this weekend?

The Handmaid’s Tale season 2 and the new HBO show starring Amy Adams, Sharpe Objects (does binge watching apply when it’s 1 episode only and if you watch it from the minute it’s available?)

Q. What's your favorite La Kaiser stack?

A. I really like the stack pictured below that includes one of my wanted rings, the Black Diamond Trio Ring stacked with the Gold Fill Eternity Bands and the Single Diamond Ring. I think it’s simple but chic, I love black diamonds, they make such a statement especially paired with other rings of different shapes and size. Definitely a stack I want to have on my finger by the end of the year!
